Eclipse Resources for Families
We
had some fabulous conversations about the eclipse in Enrichment classes
last week. We discussed what we're excited about, what we are worried
about and what our wonderings are. Here are some great eclipse resources and activities to prepare for the big event on Monday.
While talking about the eclipse ahead of the event is helpful, talking about it and researching the eclipse after the event (backwards design) may actually bring home and deepen a child's understanding more effectively. It is no longer an abstract idea. They have an experience to now attach knowledge to.
- The Planetarium Lady who visited with us in February was featured on Vermont Public Radio, along with other resources for families. Here the link: https://www.vermontpublic.org/2024-total-solar-eclipse-vermont
- ECHO also has some great activities and displays. https://www.echovermont.org/eclipse-information/
There will be a viewing party at our MMU High School. This event was cancelled due to snow and soggy fields.

- Please consider returning your eclipse glasses to a Chittenden
Solid Waste District (CSWD) collection site so that the glasses
can be re-distributed across the world via Astronomers Without
Borders. More information and a list of eclipse glasses drop off bins can be found here: https://cswd.net/recycling/cswd-collaborates-with-astronomers-without-borders-to-give-solar-eclipse-glasses-another-use-2/
