Mush On!

We have been having so much fun learning about the Iditarod Sled Dog Race happening right now in Alaska. Friends of mine and their kids started getting into mushing as a family and now the kids are racing in youth competitions. They took list of questions our fellow learners generated about the sport and made us a series of short videos to answer them! Check back, as they are working on a few more  to finish answering all our curious questions. Thank you Casey, Addie Ann, Thale & Matt!

Another friend of mine is a volunteer pilot for the Iditarod Air Force and he sent us some photos and a video from this year's race to share with my fellow learners! Thank you Scott!

We've discussed the roles of each dog on the team, just like a basketball or baseball team, dogs have positions with specific jobs. Here is a good infographic we've used. The students acted out the roles and pretended to be a team listening to the musher commands the learned.
